  2. Real Estate • Appraiser- asses the value of houses and land • Real Estate Agent/Clerk- brings buyers to land/buildings that are for sale. Helps seller sell house

  3. Home Furnishings and Design • Interior Designer- works on the interiors of homes to create designs that meet the needs of the owner. Must be creative and flexible. • Furniture Designer- produces designs for items of furniture that could be mass produced or created for individual use

American Society of Interior Designers • American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) • Certifies Interior Designers • ASID is a community of people driven by a common love for design and committed to the belief that interior design, as a service to people, is a powerful, multi-faceted profession that can positively change people's lives. • www.asid.org

  5. Home Construction • Architect- designs buildings and other structures, good at math and art, must get a 5 year degree • Carpenter- frames buildings, installs windows, doors, and cabinets

Job Application • Application- make sure you fill out completely • Resume- brief summary of personal information, education, skills, and work experience • References- ALWAYS ask before putting down, should be someone who can speak well of you. Send the resume and application before the next step • Interview- employer talks to potential employees about a job and expectations • If asked something you don’t know, admit it.

  9. Readiness Characteristics • Appearance- how you look both for an interview and for the job. Cannot be sloppy, dirty, uncared for look. Watch make-up, jewelry, shoes, clothing choices (nothing reveling), perfume. • Attitude- the way you carry yourself. What message are you sending out?

  10. Communication- impact the way we influence the behavior of others • Verbal- the words you chose to use • Nonverbal- positive body language, good eye contact, posture • Professionalism- acting the part of an adult and knowing what you are doing.
