Sarcoptesscabiei • Eight leg parasite • 1/3 millimeter long • Female = 0.3 mm-0.4 mm long • Male = half of female size
Symptoms • Itching • Extremely irritating Itching at night • Red and blistered looking skin • Elbow, abdomen, waistline, wrists, armpits, or even around and in between the fingers and toes
Diagnosis • Ink is used to detect • Take a wash able wide tip marker. • Rub it around the suspected areas • Wipe out with alcohol • Showing the dark irregular lines
Treatment • Bar soap with sulphur • commercially available in the ranges of 1%-10% to kill scabies • For four days continuously, wash the whole body at least once in a day
Drugs • Permethrin 5% • Neemoil = secondary medication • Eurax= uses to relieve itch • Lindane lotion uses as a second-line treatment • Tea tree oil at 5% • Malathion= killing both adults and eggs and applied for 24 hours.
