Today’s E9-1-1 Components Originating Calls Emergency Service Providers Other ES Providers CO ILECs Selective Router Primary PSAPs CO CLECs Secondary PSAPs MSC WSPs SR DB Wireless DB Updates ALI PDE MPC DBMS MSAG Wireline Subscriber Records or Wireless Shell Records Difficult and costly to integrate new call or messaging sources, and the corresponding data needs

NENA and E9-1-1 Evolution • 2000-2001 - 9-1-1 Future Path Plan • 2003 – began IP and E9-1-1 work • 2004 – published IP PSAP recommendations • 2005 – published Interim Solution for VoIP E9-1-1 (i2) • Jan 06 – publish NG9-1-1 (i3) Rqmts • 1Q 06 – publish NG9-1-1 basic design NENA Standard ( all accomplished with volunteers )
