  2. Jay Sawyer throws Some Light on “Selective Service” In America • Jay Sawyer of Northbrook notes that our nation still requires young men to register for "selective service”. • Congress, with the president, can reinstate a draft if a conflict were so big as to require a major increase in the military. • If Congress and the President were to reinstate a military draft, the Selective Service System would conduct a National DRAFT Lottery to determine the order in which young men would be DRAFTED. • For e.g. If a DRAFT were held in 2020, those men born in 2000 would be considered first.

  3. Ways to Not Get Drafted Shared below are some of the ways by Jay Sawyer of Northbrook on how not to get drafted: • Being a Conscientious Objector • Having Children who need you • Going to College • Holding an essential Civilian Job • Making up a Health Condition • Being a Homosexual • Having a high Lottery Number

  4. Who Can Register With The Selective Service? • Jay Sawyer of Northbrook shares that once you are 26, you are exempt from being drafted as there is historical precedent for extending that age. • Moreover, only sons, sole surviving sons or the last son to carry the family name must register with the Selective Service and should be drafted. • Individuals may be entitled to a peacetime deferment if there is a military death in the immediate family.

  5. Can Someone With Asthma Be Drafted? • Previously, any history of asthma was disqualifying, irrespective of age. • However, at present, asthma is only disqualifying if it occurs after the applicant's 13th birthday.
