Several lines and slides on higher education and the education of future law-enforcement professionals in higher education Independent since: 11 March, 1990 2,9 mln.people 65 thous.sq.km. 20 (plus 2) universities More than 110 thous. students enrolled Binary system applies: higher non-university (college: diploma: professional bachelor) and (higher – university: diploma/qualification: 1 cycle (bachelor) (210-240 ECTS), 2 cycle (master) (90-120 ECTS), 3 cycle (doctoral) studies system functions) 1 ECTS: 26 – 28 (27) hours of student’s work. Regularly, contact hours for 1 cycle studies – no less than 20%; for master degree studies – no less than 10% of credits

  3. STUDY PROGRAMMES AT THE FACULTY

Study programmes In 2015-2016 the following study programmes are delivered (and are planned for the future): 4 STUDY PROGRAMMES : I CYCLE 1) Study direction: law (Law and police activity) 2) Study direction: law (Law and the state border guard) 3) Study direction: law (Law and pretrial investigation) 4) Study direction: public security (Police activity) 5 STUDY PROGRAMMES: II CYCLE 1) Study direction: law (Law and police activity)(with specialisation Pre-trial process (for civilians) 2) Study direction: law (Law and the state border guard) 3) Study direction: law (Environmental Law) 4) Study direction: Public Security (European joint master’s in strategic border management. The programme is initiated and financed by the FRONTEX, it is delivered in cooperation with 5 other universities in Spain, Latvia, the Netherlands and Estonia. The programme was registered in all the represented countries. In Lithuania: on 1 June, 2015). 5) Study direction: Social and Legal sciences (The community of the Faculty also participates in delivery of the 2 cycle programme Policing in Europe. The programme is financed and initiated by CEPOL, it is registered in Spain on 22 June, 2015; the university, issuing diploma: Spanish University of Distance-Learning Education; Spain.)

Research: 1.The Faculty hosts an e-journal, registered on EBSCO PUBLIC SECURITY AND PUBLIC ORDER (SSN 23352035 (Online) ) Full info: http://www.mruni.eu/lt/universitetas/fakultetai/viesojo_saugumo/moksline_veikla/leidiniai/ 2.Project activities: The community members implement Erasmus plus, Jean Monnet, Cost, Framework 7 projects, Cost (-COST TU 1203 Crime Prevention Through Urban Design And Planning (CP-UDP)) 3.Academic networks: Community members participate in continuing activities of research organisations. (E.G., ASEM Education and Research Hub for Lifelong Learning (ASEM LLL Hub)); Aarhus Universitety, Denmark. Participation enables joint research and publications (No. 3A(8.9 – 309)-1358 (13 -05-2015), CEPOL, FRONTEX and other 4.Publications: publications are available in paper format and e-format at the library
