  2. THE TWO RESURRECTIONS

  3. 1. What takes place as the great 1000 year period begins? Revelation 20:4 (1822)

  4. A resurrection

  5. 2. This resurrection is called the FIRST Resurrection, Revelation 20:5, 6 (1822). Who will be raised in it?

  6. The righteous

  7. 3. We have noticed that the FIRST resurrection, the resurrection of the righteous, BEGINS the 1000 year period of Revelation 20.

  8. Jesus speaks of the SECOND resurrection as the resurrection of damnation. The wicked will be raised in it, John 5:28, 29 (1555).

  9. When will the second resurrection take place? Revelation 20:5 (1822)

  10. After the 1000 years are finished.

  11. The resurrection of the righteous, the first resurrection, begins the great 1000 year period. 1000 years = millennium

  12. The resurrection of the wicked, the second resurrection, ends the great 1000 year period. 1000 years = millennium

  13. The period between these two resurrections is the 1000 years of Revelation 20. 1000 years = millennium

  14. THE TWO REWARDS

  15. 4. What great event occurs at the time of the first resurrection when the 1000 years begin? 1 Thessalonians 4:15, 16 (1736)

  16. The second coming of the Lord

  17. 5. At the second coming, what happens to the saints who have been raised from the grave and to the saints who live to see Jesus return?

  18. a. They will be changed from mortal to immortal. 1Corinthians 15:51-54 (1688)

  19. b. They will be given bodies like Jesus’ body. Philippians 3:20, 21 (1725)

  20. c. The saints will be then caught up to meet the Lord in the air. 1 Thessalonians 4:17 (1736)

  21. 6. What happens to the wicked who are living when Jesus returns? 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 (1738) 2 Thessalonians 2:8 (1739) Isaiah 11:4 (1037)

  22. They will be consumed by the Spirit of His mouth and destroyed with the brightness of His coming.

  23. 7. How will the second coming of Jesus affect the wicked who are in their graves when He appears? Revelation 20:5 (1822)

  24. They remain in their graves until the 1000 years are finished.

  25. 8. Jesus promised that, at His return, He would take His people to the same place He went at His ascension. What is this place? Acts 1:9-11 (1590) John 13:33, 36 (1575) John 14:1-3 (1575)

  26. Heaven

  27. Events which begin the 1000 years 1. Second coming of Jesus For His saints. 2. Devastating earthquake and hail. 3. Righteous dead resurrected. 4. Living righteous changed. 1000 years = millennium

  28. Events which begin the 1000 years 5. Righteous caught up into cloud to meet Lord in the air. 6. Wicked slain by Lord’s coming. 7. Wicked dead remain dead. 8. Satan bound. 9. Cloud takes righteous to Heaven. 1000 years = millennium

  29. EVENTS DURING THE 1000 YEARS

  30. 9. Jeremiah saw (in vision) the earth just after the coming of Jesus. How did he describe what he saw? Jeremiah 25:33 (1147)

  31. The slain... shall be from one end of the earth even unto the other… they shall not be lamented neither gathered nor buried.

  32. WORLD-WIDE DEVASTATION

  33. 10. What happens to the earth at Jesus’ appearing? Revelation 16:18, 20, 21 (1818)

  34. And there was a great earthquake… and there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven.

  35. 11. What will conditions be like on the earth during the 1000 years? Isaiah 24:1, 3, 19, 20 (1050) Jeremiah 4:23-26, 28 (1112)

  36. a. Heavens… had no light… Heavens above will be black. Jeremiah 4:23, 28 (1112)

  37. b. And, lo, there was no man. Jeremiah 4:25 (1112)

  38. c. The earth… was without form and void. Jeremiah 4:23 (1112)

  39. d. The land shall be utterly emptied, and spoiled. Isaiah 24:3 (1050)

  40. e. The earth is utterly broken down. Isaiah 24:19 (1051)

  41. 12. What is this “bottomless pit” that the devil is bound in for 1000 years as outlined in Revelation 20:1-3 (1822)?

  42. “Bottomless pit” means this earth “without form” with “the Heavens above” being black and with “no man” alive on the earth.

  43. THE DEVIL BOUND

  44. 13. Why is the devil to be bound during the 1000 years? Revelation 20:3 (1822)

  45. That he should deceive the nations no more.

  46. 14. What will the righteous be doing in Heaven during the 1000 years? Revelation 20:4, 12, 13 (1822)

  47. Participating in the judgment

  48. 15. What purpose does this gigantic trial or judgment serve? After all, people at this time are either lost or saved. 1 Corinthians 6:2, 3 (1674) Revelation 22:12 (1825) 2 Peter 2:9 (1787)

  49. a. This judgment decides the degree of punishment for the lost or wicked.
