Just a review of What we’ve studied so far… Unit 1: • Neolithic Revolution, Archaeology, Prehistory, BC/BCE vs. AD/CE, monotheistic/polytheistic, sedentary vs. nomadic, homo sapiens • Ancient River Valley Civilizations: • Mesopotamia (Hammurabi's Code, Ziggurat, Tigris, Euphrates) • Egypt (Pyramids, Nile, Africa, theocracy, pharaoh) • Indus (India, Indus River, Hinduism, caste system) • Shang/Zhou (China, Huang He and Yangtze Rivers, mandate of heaven)

Unit 2 – Classical Civilizations • Greece(Mycenaeans, Minoans, Athens, Sparta, Peloponnesian War, Delian League, Alexander the Great) • Rome(Foundations, Troy, Republic, Empire, Fall of Rome, Christianity) • India(Maurya, Gupta, Buddhism, Asoka, Hinduism, caste system) • China(Qin, terracotta soldiers, Han, Daoism, Confucianism, Legalism)

Unit 3: Post Classical Civilizations • Byzantine (Constantinople, Justinian, Roman Legacy, Justinian’s Law, Great Schism, Eastern Orthodox Church, Hagia Sophia) • Islam (Caliph, Mohammad, 5 pillars, Allah, jihad, culture contributions (calligraphy, astrolabe, makeup, Arabic numerals, etc.) Shi’a/Sunni, Abbasids and Umayyads) • Medieval Europe (Roman Catholic Church, Feudalism, Manor System, Pope, guilds, 3 field system, chivalry, monarchy, crusades, 4 hallmarks of English democracy) • Tang and Song (mandate of heaven, paper money, gunpowder, junks, foot binding, civil service) • Mongols (Genghis Khan, 4 Khanates, Yuan Dynasty, Marco Polo, reopen silk road, allow trade and religious tolerance)

  5. Unit 3 Test • Progress Reports • Below a 74 needs a signature • 3 ways to raise your test grade • Retest (if you made below a 58 is a good idea) • Test Corrections • Extra Credit Assignment • Map is DUE on Thursday • Friday is 10 points off, Monday is 20, Tuesday is 30

Extra Credit Assignment • Pick a movie that covers any of the time periods we have looked at so far • Watch the movie • Write a short essay 1-2 pages assessing the historical accuracy of the movie • You should have a thesis (it is or is not historically accurate) • Talk about three parts of the movie that support your claim and use historical knowledge • For this semester due by December 14th • CAN GET UP TO 10 POINTS ADDED TO A TEST GRADE
