  1. Leviticus 18:22 “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.” Evidence for why homosexuality is morally wrong.

  2. Exodus 21:7 “If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as menservants do.” Evidence for why it’s alright to sell your daughter into slavery. Exodus 35:2 “For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.” Evidence for why we should rise up and kill anyone who works on Sunday. Leviticus 11:10 “But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales—whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water—you are to detest.” This is why eating shellfish is also morally wrong.

  3. Leviticus 25:44 “Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves.” So, you can own slaves, just not from here. Canada and Mexico though? Go for it. Leviticus 19:19-21 “Keep my decrees. Do not mate different kinds of animals. Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.” Goodbye hybrid animals, like mules, companion plants, and cotton/polyester blend t-shirts. The Bible certainly says a lot of interesting things, doesn’t it?

  4. For those who still think Leviticus 18:22 is still grounds to exclude gay individuals from being afforded the same rights as straight individuals: From the First Amendment to the Constitution "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." There is a separation of Church and State, and religions shouldn’t be the grounds for any political action.

  5. “Marriage is constantly changing. Once often polygamous, it is now monogamous.  Once concerned primarily with the control of labor and the transmission of property, now it is supposed to nurture happiness and mutual commitment. Once governed by custom alone, it has been alternately regulated by kin, slaveowners, masters, church, and state” (Chauncey 59) Marriage has certainly changed over the years. How can tradition be the answer to why we should bar individuals from having the rights that others have?

  6. Is there truly that much of a difference? 1 Can’t love and happiness be the guiding principle for marriage? 2

  7. Society as we know it won’t be corrupted and destroyed. 3 Many people will finally be able to live their lives the way they want to, and have a chance to attain as much as everyone else. 4

  8. Legalize gay marriage. Don’t let semantics, definitions, and dogma ruin happiness.
