  10. Don’t fall for these SCHOLARSHIP SCAMS Cash up front – You should NOT have to pay money to get money. There should not be a processing fee or application fee. Free Seminar – Stay away from free sessions that promise to give you scholarship information. This is a ploy to get you in their door then pay for their services. Rewards without entries - Pop up ads, unsolicited communications – DO NOT REPLY OR CLICK ON THE POP-UP. Time-Sensitive Awards – “Act Now” “Limited Quantity” – anything that sounds urgent often is not. Scholarships have deadlines, but they are normally well in advance. Guarantees – There are no guarantees for legitimate scholarships
