  4. SDI+ Project Goal: Explore the potential of a performance-based compensation system for principals and teachers in high-needs schools. The system will support and reward improvements in teaching and learning that result in increases in student achievement.

  5. SDI+ Project Vision: SDI+ schools and partners are engaged in a shared process for developing healthy, collaborative learning communities resulting in: a) increased capacity, b) valued learning and learners, and c) improved student achievement.

  16. Growth Model • Previous gains model used scale scores: distance from proficiency • New model: uses linear regression

  17. …The model assumes no variability in the nonlinear component of the model. Implicitly, any variation in δ is captured in the residual error term…

  18. Growth Model • Linear Regression for DSTEP: • Takes into account student subgroups: e.g. race, economic status • Produces a projected score based on others students of similar groupings • DACS and SAT10 still using NCEs

  19. School-wide Incentive • Not averages, rather counts of students who exceed projected score • If more than 50%, then receive incentive

  20. Year 4 • Will put a testing participation cutoff at 90% of school include students for DACS and SAT10 • Expand individual incentive to more schools • Option to use multiple measures, e.g. DSTEP & DACS. • Year 5: look for ways to include measures beyond DSTEP, DACS, and SAT10.
