  2. 1. Measuring Earth’s radius using Eratosthene’s method • A team of students from our school made the experiment and you are going to watch a short movie with the results of their work.

Horizontal/Garden Sundials The steps taken by the students from “Danubiana” Technical College were: • they decidedtomakea sundial called the “Horizontal/Garden Sundial” • they settled the dimensions of the sundial and the pattern of the plate ( 1,5 m) andtheydecided thatthe gnomon must be movable and the calendar positions must be determined for each day’s gnomon location.

  5. they found the right location for the sundial • they made a simulation to see if the sundial is functional • the building of the sundial is going to start after the meeting in Graz and…you will be able to see the result… Youwillsee !!!

  6. 3. Suggestions for the following year of the project (students should make presentations or short movies) 1. MAIN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS. • POLLUTION. • Sources of pollution. • TYPES OF POLLUTION ( air, soil, water, light, noise, radioactive pollution );pollution in different areas.

EFFECTS OF POLLUTIONS: • DEFORESTATION • FLOODS • Forest Fires, Marine Pollution, • LANDSLIDES • DESERTIFICATION IN CERTAIN AREAS OF THE COUNTRY • Water shortage • Waste • Traffic jam (emissions) • Climate change – Extreme weather events Each partner school should describe the effects of pollution on their country with real examples, statistics and specific solutions.

  8. SOLUTIONS for each country: • Renewable energy sources specific in each country (unconventional energy) • New ways of private transportation – electric cars (unconventional energy) • Ways of saving energy……etc

Otheractivities • Eco online Dictionary in 9 languages • Products from waste (making artistic objects from waste) • Eco carnival (eco-fashion show) • A green festival including song, dance and poems and a final international green conference. • Recycling campaign • Ten rules to save environment • The 10 commandments of clever use of energy

  10. Posibleexperiments • Measuring of energy consumption at school and comparing it for all 6 countries. Comparing consuming profiles. Show consequences and alternatives • Collective transportation compared to private transportation. Cost benefit analysis. CO2 effect.
