  6. Gitchi-Gami Trail Random Facts • It will run from Two Harbors to Grand Marais • Currently approx. half of the trail is complete • It will connect 5 State Parks • It will be approx. 80 miles long 6

Temperance River Random Facts • Approx. 285,000 visitors come each year. • Temperance River has three waterfalls which can be reached by footpath. • In 1957, the state organized 539 acres of land into Temperance River State Park • It is also one of the many area state parks connected by the Superior Hiking Trail. 8

  10. Tettegouche Random Facts • Approx. 400,000 visitors each year • It also has three waterfalls • 140 species of birds have been identified • It has rugged, semi-mountainous terrain, including one mile of Lake Superior shoreline 10

Minnesota State Forests • There are 57 state forests in Minnesota. • My favorite state forest is Grand Portage. • Camping is a popular activity in state forests. • Hiking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, off-highway vehicle riding, and snowmobiling are some activities to do on trails. 14
