  1. Treasure Map Assignment L.O: To use skills in cartography to develop a map with clues for treasure hunting. • Quiz Time! • You have 5minutes to revise your notes or ask questions before completing the pop-quiz

Your graded assignment • Use the blank grid A3 template to design an island. • It can be any size or shape, or multiple islands • You need to follow correct map conventions • Compass • Linear scale • Key • Symbols • Birds-eye-view • Look at an atlas to see what map symbols you should use and what a map really looks like.

  3. Clues • You need to identify a start point (you are here arrow?) • From there you need 10 clues that use: • Compass directions • Bearings • Distance • Grid references • For example: • From the start point, go 1.5 km in a NNE direction • Turn to face bearing point 1800 and continue forward until you get to the golf course in grid 0521.
