Lets try one! Watch demo video (1 min.) • Insight = Faronics Insight - Computer Lab Management Made Easy • Website creation (teacher) • Collaborate with peers • Use of wikis, twitter, Facebook, blogs, getting students email accounts (ex. www.brainpop.com) • Digital story projects (use of camcorder) • YouTube channel • Digital portfolios
Breakout #1= Web 2.0 Collaboration Tools • www.linoit.com(teacher creates account) Online sticky notes, like Post-Its, displayed on a canvas for group participation. Could be used for bell work, in-class activities, or closing (ticket out the door). Lets give it a shot • Create link for students to access (Word document or teacher’s website). • Presentation software = www.prezi.com (ex. analyze story elements/literature circles) • Let's check out Prezi...1 min. demo video • Teacher must create an account. • Google docs = teacher creates a page, then students manipulate it to test for understanding. Example, math groups/geometric figures.
Breakout #2 = building early math skills with pbs mobile games • PBS learning media = www.pbskids.org/lab • PBS mobile & PBS labs (K-3rd) • Asset website = http://www.asset.asu.edu/
Breakout #3 = the death of the computer lab • “The Passing of the K-8 Computer Lab” Vail S.D. (Chief Information Officer) Matt Federoff. • IPod Touches/Ipads (other tablets)/smartphones/laptops/”Flex Books” • AZ Central article: http://www.azcentral.com/community/surprise/articles/2012/02/01/20120201west-valley-school-districts-could-adopt-flexbooks.html • Mr. Federoff gave 3 elementary teachers a class set of IPod Touches for research in the classroom.
