New Jersey Department of EducationDefinition of Harrassment, Intimidation and Bullying "Harassment, intimidation or bullying" means any gesture, any written, verbal or physical act, or any electronic communication, whether it be a single incident or a series of incidents, that is reasonably perceived as being motivated either by any actual or perceived characteristic, such as race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, or a mental, physical or sensory handicapdisability, or by any other distinguishing characteristic, that takes place on school property, at any school-sponsored function or on a school bus, or off school grounds as provided for in section 16 of P.L.2010, CHAPTER 122, that substantially disrupts or interferes with the orderly operation of the school or the rights of other students and that: a reasonable person should know, under the circumstances, will have the effect of physically or emotionally harming a student or damaging the student's property, or placing a student in reasonable fear of physical or emotional harm to his person or damage to his property; or has the effect of insulting or demeaning any student or group of students in such a way as to cause substantial disruption in, or substantial interference with, the orderly operation of the school; or creates a hostile educational environment for the student by interfering with a student’s education or by severely or pervasively causing physical or emotional harm to the student.

  5. Evaluations You will be assigned a university supervisor by your department chairperson. Your supervisor will contact you prior to observing and evaluating you in the classroom. Following the supervisor’s observation, he or she will conference with you, go over the evaluation and provide a copy of the on-line evaluation. Your supervisor will observe you during your practicum twice. Your cooperating teacher will submit an on line mid-semester evaluation and final evaluation. You should receive a copy of the two evaluations. Ask your supervisor to share with you the evaluation form they will be using.

Practicum Dates and Policies Fall 2013 Practicum meets Every Wednesday ( September 11-December 18 ) Absence Form & Policy Practicum students are allowed to be absent ONCE If you are going to be absent you must: 1- Inform the school 2-Call the supervisor 3-Fill out a student absence form located on the CTPP website

  8. …Policies continued Request to Withdraw Form If you plan to withdraw you must fill out this form and submit it to the CTPP Please be aware of the Registrar’s dates and deadlines to withdrawofficially from the semester Special Case Report Form Should the supervisor & the cooperative teacher feel that you require improvement during your practicum, a meeting will be initiated with you to discuss the areas where you may require assistance. The form will create an intervention plan

  9. …Policies continued Students will be given two opportunities to be successful in the practicum or internship. This applies whether the two opportunities take place in the same semester or two. The timeline for the second placement will be determined by the department chairperson and director of the CTPP. If the second opportunity takes place in a subsequent semester, a new application must be submitted to the CTPP. The student will be responsible for paying the tuition, any co-requisite courses needed as well as the internship or practicum fee.   10. PRAXIS TEST INFORMATION Effective September 1, 2012 The new Elementary Ed Content Categories 1. Reading/Language Arts 25% 2. Mathematics 25% 3. Social Studies 25% 4. Science 25% www.ets.org # 1 800 772 9476 Please make sure you keep a complete copy of your Praxis Score Report. The CTPP may request it.

  11. PRAXISTEST INFORMATION New test codes and scores as of September 1, 2013 Persons taking tests prior to that date will be allowed to submit those test scores. For more information regarding this please go to http://www.nj.gov/education/educators/license/1112.pdf

  12. Internship for Spring 2014 If you plan on doing your Internship for spring 2014, please note that the application deadline is September 20, 2013 Contact the CTPP office if you have any questions regarding the application process.
