    3. 3 RISE ISRI language providing 50% accelerated depreciation in 1st year for eligible recycling equipment signed into law October 3rd According to CBO, benefit to our industry is a minimum of $162 million over 10 years Part of former Recycling Investment Saves Energy (RISE) Act Eligibility – Equipment purchased after Aug 31, 2008 Includes only machinery and equipment which is used exclusively to collect, distribute, or recycle scrap paper, metal, plastic, glass, textiles, rubber, packaging and electronics

    4. 4 ISRI’s Image Campaign Over one year ago, ISRI launched its image campaign in an effort to effect a positive, permanent change in attitude as it affects all members of ISRI and the industry we represent Although materials theft may have prompted this effort, the campaign is far broader. The goal is to develop communications initiative to help solve active and future problems All commodities Not linked to any one issue (such as theft) Gradual roll-out vs. switch turned on Long-term approach & commitment Big Thanks to all the PSI Members who have contributed

    6. 6 ISRI’s Image Campaign ISRI Code of Conduct For nearly one year, ISRI has been working on a draft code of conduct for the membership Debate has focused on questions of whether Code should be -- Mandatory vs. voluntary/aspirational Detailed vs. general Strictly enforced vs. general reliance on ISRI bylaws which provide enforcement when member not acting in best interests of association and/or industry Public Hearing in October on draft Code Result will likely be a redraft towards a more aspirational, less detailed Code with reliance on bylaws Redraft will be sent to all members by the end of the year, with goal of Board vote at April 2009 ISRI Convention

Salary Benchmarking Survey Earlier this year, ISRI initiated 1st industry compensation survey in more than a decade Only open to members, and free to all who participate Compensation and bonus data for approx 45 job descriptions (executive & non-executive) Being conducted by an independent 3rd party (Veris Consulting LLC) Web-based with built-in security to ensure confidentiality Invitations to participate going out now, results will be available within 3 months

Legislative Priorities for Next Year ISRI Letter to President-Elect Obama Legislative Priorities for Next Year -- Continue to build the Recycling Caucus Climate Change Transportation/Infrastructure Free and fair trade Removing obstacles to recycling Materials theft ? All with the goal of continuing to strengthen and build the industry across all commodity sectors
