  2. Albinism • Albinism is a defect of melanin production that results in little or no color or pigment in skin, hair or eyes

  3. Types of Albinism • Type 1 Albinism • Type 2 Albinism • Oculotaneous Albinism • Ocular Albinism Type 1 • Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome (HPS)

  4. Symptoms of Albinism • No color in hair, eyes or skin • Sometimes have crossed eyes, rapid eye movements, sensitivity to light and vision problems.

  5. Treatment • There is no cure to Albinism but there are ways to relieve the symptoms: • Avoid the sun or use sunscreen • Use sunglasses to help with the sensitivity to light

  6. Vitilago • Vitilago is a disease in which spots occur when melanocytes, are destroyed and the melanin can no longer be produced.
