  1. A Kingdom of Priests November 4, 2007

  2. Exodus 19:5-6 (NKJV) 5 Now therefore, ifyou will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

  3. We see here that the Lord is full of promises for His people; HOWEVER His promises are conditional. • We MUST • Obey His voice and • Keep His covenant

  4. How do we obey His voice? • First, we must HEAR His voice • He promises us that we will • John 10:16And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. • John 10:27My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

  5. How do we obey His voice? • Second, we MUST take action • Romans 2:13(for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified; • James 1:21-22 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

  6. How do we become doers? • We follow His voice first by following His Word—the Bible! • We LISTEN to His voice by spending time in His presence—WORSHIP and PRAYER! • We OBEY even when we don’t understand

  7. How do we KNOW that we are doers? • The fruits of the Spirit will be evident in our lives and NOT the fruits of the flesh

  8. Galatians 5:16-26 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
