  2. Preferred Rehabilitation Inc. Physical Therapy To diagnose your problem, your personal physical therapy begins with a comprehensive evaluation of functional limitations and areas of pain including postural and biomechanical assessments. Our team of expert physical therapists will design a treatment plan based on your goals, life style necessities and work related needs. Pool Therapy Aquatic therapy is physical therapy that takes place in a pool or other aquatic environment under the supervision of a trained healthcare professional. Aquatic therapy is also known as water therapy, aquatic rehabilitation, aqua therapy, pool therapy, therapeutic aquatic exercise or hydrotherapy. Myofascial Release Therapy We use Myofascial Release Therapy, a hands-on manual therapy technique, to treat pain resulting from myofascial tissue, which are the tough membranes that connect and wrap around to support muscles. Myofascial pain can be an especially intense pain due to its origin, also known as "trigger points". Pains in trigger points are usually difficult to localize. And with these, our physical therapist uses a under light manual pressure to treat this problem. They isolate these stiff and tight myofascial areas from those more pliable to release the restricted muscles and joint movement.

  3. Therapeutic Massage Therapy Therapeutic massage therapy is a hands-on treatment that involves manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body to alleviate pain, discomfort and muscle spam tightness. Our physical therapist may implement therapeutic massage as a useful technique to treat chronic pain. Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) TENS therapy is used to treat localized pain by using electrodes to deliver electrical impulses to nerve pathways. TENS has been successful in treating our patients with chronic pain, post-operative pain and osteoarthritis. TENS has also been helpful in treating our patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Although fibromyalgia is not localized pain, when combining supervised exercise along with TENS therapy, patients have reported this combination of treatment effective in reducing pain. Traction Therapy for Neck and Back Pain Traction Therapy is a form of decompression therapy relieving pressure on the spine. Our therapists have found great success with our patients offering traction to areas of the spine both manually and mechanically. Spinal traction is used to treat herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, pinched nerves and many other back & neck conditions. Spinal traction stretches the spine, taking pressure off compressed discs, thus straightening the spine, improving the body's ability to heal itself.

  4. Ultrasound for any/all Injured Areas or Pain Ultrasound waves are useful in helping our patients relieve pain, calm inflammation and encourage healing in tissues. Ultrasound has also been helpful in increasing circulation, having an internal massaging effect. It may be applied to almost any part of the body that is injured or in pain, including promoting bone healing. This gentle and noninvasive therapy may be used with any patient from soft tissue to severe injuries. Work Hardening/Conditioning Our work hardening & work conditioning therapists help our patients prepare and rehab their injury so they can return to work, job search or retraining. We provide an active, individualized program to address our patient's physical needs while maximizing their functional ability to return to work. We focus on a goal oriented program which bridges the gap between outpatient therapy and the physical demands of their job. Spine, Sports & Occupational Medicine PC Orthopedic Surgery Orthopedic Surgery or orthopedics is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions such as broken bones, tears and dislocated joints involving the musculoskeletal system. Our Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases and congenital disorders.

  5. Pain Intervention Procedures and Therapy Interventional pain management procedures are often an important component of our comprehensive pain treatment program. Interventional pain management refers to a group of minor or major surgical procedures that can be used to control acute or chronic painful conditions. These include, but are not limited to, trigger point injections, a variety of nerve blocks, epidural steroid injections, spinal cord stimulators and ultrasound guided injections. Cortisone Injections Cortisone injections make up a very important part of the treatment of joint injuries including shoulder, knee, ankle, elbow, hip, spine and wrist injuries. In combination with an active rehabilitation program, they may significantly reduce the need for surgery with many impingement syndromes. Trigger Point Injections Trigger point injections are an effective treatment modality for inactivating trigger points and providing prompt relief of symptoms from myofascial pain syndrome. Myofascial pain syndrome is a common painful muscle disorder characterized by myofascial trigger points. Occipital Nerve Blocks/Implantables Occipital nerve stimulation (ONS) is a form of neuromodulation therapy aimed at treating headache and Craniofacial pain. This therapy involves an implantable device composed of an electrode and pulse generator. The lead is placed into the subcutaneous tissues and the pulse generator is implanted into a subcutaneous pocket in the chest, abdomen or back.

  6. Facet Joint and Sacroiliac Injections A cervical, thoracic or lumbar facet joint injection involves injecting a small amount of local anesthetic (numbing agent) and/or steroid medication which can anesthetize the facet joints and block pain. Facet Joint injections are used for both diagnostic and therapeutic reasons to treat painful conditions in joints involving twisting, turning and bending. Epidural Steroid Injections Epidural Steroid Injections (ESIs) are common techniques to treat low back and leg pain, as well as neck and arm pain caused by inflammation and narrowing of the spinal cord. This narrowing puts pressure on the spinal cord, leading to pain, numbness and muscle weakness. EMG Testing An electromyography (EMG) measures the muscle's response or electrical activity in response to a nerve’s stimulation of the muscle. This test is used to help detect neuromuscular abnormalities. X-Ray Testing An X-Ray is a photograph or digital image of the internal components of the human body. It is one of the most common medical tests performed and can be used to diagnose a multitude of issues, such as diagnosing broken bones after an incident.

  7. Medical Evaluations Medical Evaluations are the first step for our doctors to meet, research, examine, learn our patient's history, perform clinical test and create a uniquely tailored medical plan to address our patient's every need and concern.
