  2. 2014 Radio System Quick Facts • SD Statewide system has 260 shared Trunked repeaters(RC) • System at 97% geographic coverage by mapping. • System averaged 2.25 million calls per month in 2013. • Local participation by Sheriff, PD, Ambulance, Transit, and others. • State participation by DCI, HP, DOT, FM, OEM, F&T, and more. • Federal participation by FBI, US Marshals, US Forestry. • BIA, USFWS, Corp of Engineers, and others.

  6. System Challenges Ahead • Upgrade P25 network controller from SmartX 7.9 to 7.13 in Fall 2014. • Replace Quantar VHF IR stations and Simulcast base stations with GTR-8000 stations in 2014. In progress. • Make improvements necessary to meet needs of users through: • Tower site additions- McPherson/ Union/Reliance. • Antenna alignments. • Radio programming.

  7. SD/ MN Interoperability Border counties in SD with ARMER 800 Mhz base Stations provided by Minnesota include: Roberts Co., SD---Traverse Co., MN. Grant--- Big Stone Co., MN. Deuel--- Lac Qui Parle andYellow Medicine. Codington (2nd county in)--- Lac Qui Parle and Yellow Medicine Moody --- Pipestone. Minnehaha---Rock Brookings Co.—No ARMER 800 radio—Lincoln Co., MN.

  8. SD/MN Interoperability 2 • Notes from discussion with SD counties: • Roberts Co. SD (Sisseton)- 800 ARMER not used much. A few ambulance and law enforcement calls, last time was used approx. 1.5 months ago. Operation wise the radio works nicely. Hwy’s 10/28 and 127. Grant Co. SD (Milbank)- 800 ARMER radio works nicely also for them, very useful. They work with law enforcement Big Stone County, MN, Highway 12. Have had a few pursuits. They use Big Stone TG.

SD/MN Interoperability 3 • Codington Co (Watertown, SD)—Very favorable comments, using Big Stone Law TG and La qui Parle Fire TG. • They work closely with Ortonville Ambulance, Marietta Ambulance, and Nassau Fire. In fact they page those entities on VHF paging, and they respond on 800 ARMER. • They talk with 911 dispatch in Willmar. • Hwy 212 primarily.

  10. SD/MN Interoperability 4 • Deuel Co. (Clear Lake, SD) They have occasional 800 ARMER use , to La qui Parle Co. MN. It is installed and controlled by console. Works nicely. NOTE: Did request more training and/or a user guide for radio operation. Hwy 212 and 22/68. • Brookings Co. (Brookings, SD) No ARMER 800 radio at present time. Hwy 14.

  11. SD/MN Interoperability 5 • Moody Co. (Flandreau, SD) They can talk with Pipestone, MN on ARMER 800. Have had no training, that would be beneficial. Direct use of radio, no console tie in. Very occasional use, on SW CALL TG.

  12. SD/MN Interoperability 6 • Minnehaha Co. (Sioux Falls, SD) – No issues with the ARMER 800 radio operation, technically.. Otherwise, need to to work out procedures with the surrounding counties for various types of calls, pursuits, ambulance, etc.. Meetings have been held with Rock County and continue on those lines. Metro would like to and is very capable of patching 800 ARMER to SD VHF digital. Cover Interstate 90/ Hwy 34.

  13. SD/MN Interoperability 7 • Final Topics: • Randy Donahue, Slayton MN capabilities. • CCGW link to ARMER 800 Mhz Stations for SRC using Dispatch at Watertown and Sioux Falls ARMER 800 radio. • ISSI link between SD/ MN? • Use of 155.475 VLAW 31 • VTAC’s • SD FOG • Wrapup- work in progress.
