  2. Educational and Professional HistoryI completed my undergraduate work in Industrial Arts Education at SUNY Oswego, New York in 1979, taught inner-city underprivileged at-risk youth. Left education in 1981 and started my first (construction) of many businesses, relocated to housing-boom Arizona in 1986 and continued in the construction trades starting additional businesses. My divorce after a 21 year marriage brought me to my second wife Caryla with a son with Fragile-X Syndrome. His education in 6th grade prompted my return to teaching, earning my first M.Ed. (Cross-Categorical Special Education) and the desire to do more. Spent two years as lead-teacher within a private special education school before being hired as Program Specialist for Peoria Unified School District, designed and developed their "flagship" transition program called the Adult Training Center. I was published in 2007, book entitled - "Shhh! It's Special Ed., Your School District's Best Kept Secret"; and designed a post-secondary "college" for adults with disabilities, registering it with the Arizona Corporate Commission. Health reasons prompted a move to Oklahoma, where I am employed with the Oklahoma City Public Schools- serving once again, inner-city underprivileged at-risk youth at the alternative-charter school Seeworth Academy (approx. 35% sped), developing program elective “Academic Achievement – Promoting High School Completion and the Transition into Adulthood” while completing my second M.Ed. (Educational Leadership for Principal certification), with hopes of creating needed change. This workshop will include effective practices through self-development and discovery, designing the “blueprint” that will lead to the construction of the students’ adult foundations. Designed to facilitate students’ successful transition into adult life by teaching the proper skill-set, providing a chance to participate, and the opportunity to develop and grow through the exposure of the fundamental practices of our adult society and work force to increase: student educational success, student employability skills, student independent living skills, and student community integration. The participant will be able to provide the development of effective practices for promoting high school completion and a positive transition into adulthood. The participant will be able to provide direction and instruction of the development and implementation of the student’s high school Strategic Life PlanPortfolio. The participant will be able to provide direction and instruction in the development of the student’s personal mission statement through student discovery of self assessment and evaluation.

Oklahoma City Metropolitan Gang Task Force GANG TASK FORCE SWEEP NETS 26 Gangs Involved Include the Southside Locos, East Side Vario Segundo and Grand Barrio Centrale, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - Starting at 6:30 a.m., yesterday morning, more than 100 federal, state, and local law enforcement officers fanned out across the Oklahoma City metropolitan area and Altus, Oklahoma to execute sealed arrest and search warrants against Southside Locos, East Side Vario Segundo, Grand Barrio Centrale, and 98 Main Street Mafia Crip gang members, associates, and others stemming from their involvement in significant drug trafficking. Author Unknown Purpose: Achieving Behavioral Change – (ABC’s) To identify and target specific individual behavioral objectives that effect every day, real-world challenges, prompting more effective and efficient use of time, energy, and brain-power, to create a higher level of academic achievement and the continued success on into adulthood. Strategic Life Planning Take Action For a Happier, Healthier, More Fulfilling Life! • Nothing can add more power to your life than by concentrating all your energies into a limited set (1-3) of targets, or goals. If you work toward 10 different goals all at the same time, you can only apply 1/10 of all your energy into each one; that’s only 10 percent of your efforts - each. If one of your goals is finally achieved, it could have taken up to 10 times longer than it should or could have taken. Most people, by then, would have given up! Agreed? • Focus on a smaller number of goals. You’ll achieve or master them faster, building up steam for the next one, and then the next one, and so on. But remember, you still must give 100% of your efforts into achieving any one goal. Take a piece of paper and list five or six things that you wish to accomplish within the next year. Next, prioritize them, listing them from number 1 through 6 etc., with number 1 being the most important.

Strategic Life Planning • Action step #1 Goal Setting: Write down the single most important goal (your number 1) you want to achieve in the next twelve months and make a commitment to concentrate on achieving it. Your goal (SMART) must be Specific, Measureable, Action-oriented, Realistic, Time-bound, and of course reasonable. • Action step #2 Cause and Effect: Change the way you approach your wants and wishes. If you wish for more money - that alone won’t make it magically appear. It’s not about your desire; it’s about raising the level of your self-image, attracting the positive outcome. You need to focus on the cause, or the reason as to why you aren’t receiving the money or other things that you desire. Chasing more money is only attacking the effect. The cause is the how you think - and what you think about. If you improve the cause, the effect will take care of itself. • Emotional Response: We are all driven by our emotions. If we produce a desire to succeed, and we are truly emotionally driven to do it - the effects of our desire will produce our desired results. Do what you love, and you’ll love what you do! Don’t you agree? You will not only be happy and willing to get up every morning and go out and do your “job”; but it will show in your behavior, attitude, and most importantly, your results. To be able to change your thinking, and what you think about, and to raise your level of self-image, you must first analyze your values, and find out exactly what is really important to you. Next, answer the questions below. You must be completely honest with yourself. • What am I willing to fight for? • What values do I hold dearest to my heart? • What values would I be willing to die for? • If I could achieve a single thing, what would make all my hard work worth the struggle? • If I had thirty minutes to live, what would I tell my children are the three most important things that I have learned to live a happy, healthy, fulfilling life?

  18. Strategic Life Planning • Action step #3 Time-line: Your next step is to analyze your specific goal and develop a time line to reach it. The term “measureable” means that you can see your progress at any given time. Setting a time-line to your goal helps you gain momentum towards the completion of each step, and the next and so on. Your goal should be broken down into smaller, more quickly achievable parts. We call these parts objectives. Each part or objective should have an estimated completion time. Each objective should be located on your time-line with a realistic, specific deadline. Each separate part placed on your time-line should, in-turn, equal the entire goal achievement. At any given point, you should be able to look at your time-line and know exactly when you stand. If you are behind in your time-line, your goal needs to be re-evaluated; or that specific objective needs more attention or a more realistic time-frame to complete it. • Goal example: Graduate high school - Step1- Find out how many credits that are needed to graduate from my high school. Step 2- Write out all the classes that I need to take in each subject and their credit value. Step 3- Ask for my updated transcript (credit check) from my school councilor. Step 4- Study my transcript to see how many credits that I have completed and how many more that I need. Step 5- Develop a check list of the needed classes and the EOI exams that are required, such as English II, and Algebra I, etc. Step 6- Develop a timeline listing when each step needs to take place, including the classes that I need to take and when they will be taken. Step 7- Review timeline every few weeks to make sure that I am on target to graduate. Revise as necessary. * Now, develop your own objectives matching your goal. Don’t forget your timeline.

  25. If you know what you want, but you don’t have a written plan to put it into action, it will always be just a dream! You can make the choice to “dream-on” or you can make the choice to live-on! I say…LIVE – ON and create a plan for the life that you want to live.
