  4. The Food Pyramid To be able to eat a nutritious meal you must know what foods are in each group and how much of each food group you should eat. By knowing this information you can pick foods that will keep you healthy and in good shape! I love the food pyramid!!!

  7. Grain Group What Foods Make Up the Grain Group? Any food made from rice, oats, cornmeal, barley, or other grains make up this group. Why Eat Grains? • Helps build strong muscles • Great source of Vitamin B and iron • Helps the body release energy You choose grains!!

  8. Grain Group How Much Should You Eat? • Children 4-8 years old should eat about 4-5 ounces daily • Girls 9-13 should eat about 5 ounces daily • Boys 9-13 should eat about 6 ounces daily What Counts as an Ounce? • 1 slice of bread • 1 cup of cereal • ½ cups of rice or pasta
