  1. Lesson 7 Day 1 What Makes Us Angry Drill: Make a list of five reasons why emotions are important in our lives.

OBJECTIVES: • Identify things that make you angry. • Recognize thoughts about these “triggers” and how these thoughts influence your feelings. • Learn more about your response to anger and the consequences of behavior. • Identify reasons for developing alternative strategies for managing anger.

  3. Understanding Ourselves and Others • Do you think you have trouble controlling anger? • Are you comfortable expressing anger? • How do you respond when someone becomes angry with you? • Do you believe it is a good idea or a bad idea to become so angry that you lose control of yourself? Explain why.

  4. “Losing control can create problems.” • Agree / Disagree • Explanations • Reasons why • Examples

  6. Anger Venting and Managing(tan student workbook p. 8) • Fill out the sheet in your workbook. • Circle the “Y” for yes and the “N” for no. • Be honest with yourself. 

  7. “Roundtable” (student workbook p. 9) • In Groups of 4… • Re-read each question on page 8. • Count how many members answered “Y” to each question. • Write the question number in the appropriate part of the circle.

  8. Ticket Out The Door • Thinking back to the “Anger Venting and Managing” activity, provide an example of a response that you think is a) appropriate b) inappropriate • “Responses are choices and we should choose more appropriate responses.” Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Explain why or why not.
