  7. Resolution Format Abstract page (Cover page) • Title/Topic • Submitted by (your SNA) • Summary of Resolution (one paragraph)

Resolution Format Resolution Body • Title/Topic • Submitted by • Authors • 5-10 Whereas Statements • Evidenced Based information <5 years old • Use APA 6th edition citation • Direct Quotes or paraphrased from evidence • Be clear and concise! • NOT AMENDABLE by House of Delegates • 3-5 Resolved Statements • First statement: position &/or initial action • Following statements: subsequent actions • Final statement: should be a “send a copy to” list of organizations affected by or interested in the MNSA position • AMENDABLE by House of Delegates

Resolution Adoption Process – Annual Convention Resolution Hearings House of Delegates Motion to adopt resolution “I move that the MNSA House of Delegates adopt [the resolution]” Formal Debate Authors begin formal debate; speaking pro Alternating Pro and Con statements Motions for amendments for Resolved Statements submitted and voted upon. Specified time limit for each resolution: TBD Final Delegate Voting on motion to adopt resolution Requires >50% to pass • Authors, delegates, & alternates present for Resolution introduction • Editorial changes & Resolved statements: debatable • Titles & Whereas Statements: not debatable • Tabling prior and after Hearings for delegate review and discussion • Approved for House of Delegates Agenda

Adopted Resolutions • Become part of MNSA policy agenda • “Resolved” statements implemented • Serves as a guide to educational and action items • Convention program • NurseTalk articles • Discussions with policy makers Go national! • NSNA Resolution submission deadline • February 12th 2014 (8 weeks before national convention)

Join the Resolution Committee Looking for 4 committee members • Boost resume& portfolio • Network with other students Must be available to attend 3 committee meetings: • Saturday, December 7th, 2013 (Okemos) • Saturday, January 11th, 2014 (Okemos) • Saturday, January 25, 2014 (Troy) Must attend House of Delegates • Convention fee discount may be available to committee members upon request; subject to approval by MNSA Board of Directors Note: Authors cannot serve on the committee
