  2. Proposal Target Audience - The target of my magazine would be mainly for teenagers with an interest in alternative music, and also indie and rock. The magazine will be for people that are looking for a change of what’s included in the magazine and also what information is put in the magazine. The magazine should be driven by the music, instead of just being a part of it. The magazine needs to be different to all the other music magazines on the shelves of W H Smiths. It won’t just show you the exterior of the music but what goes into making the music featured in the magazine, and the emotion behind it. As well as showcasing the typical rock bands it will also show other bands that may not fit the cliques of each musical genre. Style The magazine should have an artistic look to it, because the magazine is mainly about music and the artists.There is no boundary to what it can look like, but it shouldn’t look like a typical magazine it has to have a slight edge to it. The inside content should vary from week to week keeping the readers on their toes to keep them interested. The consistency of the magazine will be the quality of writing and information presented. Consistency will also be within the quality of the band. Inside the colours will have no set conventions. They will mix with other colours to give it a new life and energy. The pictures included in the magazine will be artistic using a variation of camera angles and effects such as different contrasts etc. This shall be done using photo shop. The artists in the magazine will have an individual edge to them, some more so than others. Whilst some artists may have a slight edge to their style, others will have an edge to their music.

  3. Titles Titles • Pioneer • Radar! • Cobra • Distinct! Pioneer – I like the name pioneer because it suggests that it’s the first of its’ kind and will lead the way for a new kind of magazine. Radar – This name stands out to me because the audience may feel like the title will relate to the music inside. For example the bands featured may be just under the radar (not well known), or on the radar (mainstream). – Selected Name Cobra – This name doesn’t work for the magazine because the audience may relate cobra to being sneaky and sly; they may take this as the magazine hiding facts from them and we don’t want this to happen.

  7. Draft Fonts These two fonts look very boring and basic and don’t grab my attention; they will not be used in the magazine Radar! Radar! Radar! Radar! Radar! Radar! Radar! These two fonts look too cartoony and more suited towards a jazz magazine not rock/alternative These font’s still don’t grab my attention; if these fonts were put on the front page I don’t think they’d grab the readers attention This font really stands out, and looks like it goes will the style of my magazine. It will grab the readers attention and matches the rock/alternative theme of the magazine

  9. Inspiration Fall Out Boy Fall Out Boy was part of the inspiration for the creation of the band and magazine. Their individual style all differs, but when put together it all meshes. Their music depicts the magazines style. It’s rock music with an alternative twist. From the insistent orchestral opening through the driving power pop chorus and audacious quoting of the line "He tastes like you, only sweeter" from the film Closer, "Thanks for the Memories" is a tour de force single laying bare the prodigious talents of Fall Out Boy. Fortunately, as in their breakthrough "Sugar, We're Goin' Down," it is quite possible to ignore all of the clever allusions, intricate instrumentation, and personal life references to simply enjoy "Thanks for the Memories" as a fun burst of rock energy.

  10. Panic! At The Disco Few recent pop/rock bands have so effectively zeroed in on musical factors that strongly appeal to teen listeners as Panic! At The Disco. "I Write Sins Not Tragedies," the second single from the band's debut album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, is a quintessential song by the group. A sense of theatre, emotional angst, and concern for and about privacy all add up to a teen blockbuster. "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" kicks off with an overheard conversation that concludes with the loaded word "whore." The remainder of the song focuses on the angst occurring from overhearing words meant to be private. This is all surrounded by rock with a theatrical edge. The song could just as easily be an outtake from an edgy rock musical as simply a song from Panic! At The Disco’s first album. Most of the group members are still teenagers themselves. It is no wonder they so easily grasp musical elements that appeal to their peers. Emotional drama, concern about privacy, and rumour add up to a potent mix that has propelled "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" into the pop top 40.

  11. Who Would Make It And Who Would Sell It? Bauer Consumer Media is the ideal publishing house for this magazine. This is because it has published other magazines within the same genre such as Kerrang! As Kerrang! has as widespread availability I would like the same coverage for Radar! Chains such as W H Smith would sell this magazine. This is because it’s quite an open magazine, meaning that a wide variety of teenagers would buy it and read it. Some small corner shops may also buy this magazine. If it was sold in places such as ASDA it would give us a great coverage however it doesn’t suit the magazine. The magazine will also be sold in music stores such as HMV and other small music stores. This will give the magazine great advertisement. The stores will be interested in this magazine because it is unique. However some small stores may not sell it because they may think that it only appeals to certain people.
