  3. Floor Coverings • Resilient Floor Coverings • Vinyl Resilient coverings come in 12” X 12” tiles and 6’ and 12’ lengths(rolls) • Carpeting and Rugs • Wall to Wall carpeting (typically 12’ rolls) • Use padding under carpeting to make the flooring more comfortable and last longer

  4. Calculating flooring • Find the area of the room in square yards • Area = length x width • There are 9 square feet in 1 square yard • Area for flooring = (l x w) / 9 = ____ sqyds

  5. Homework For homework, you will be given a floor plan. Attach a sheet of notebook paper to the plan to show your math calculations. Calculate the amount of flooring needed for the kitchen, one of the bathrooms and one of the bedrooms. Be sure to use the formula and express your answer in square yards.
