Voltage/Current Presence Check

Effective November 1, 2003, the Voltage and Current (V&I) presence check will not be performed in MV90 due to granted exemptions until March 2004. Numerous false meter readings have been reported due to limitations in the existing algorithm. A more reliable V&I checking method is being developed. Checks should only be done for compliant meters using MVStar, calculating average values over a clocked hour interval. Validation criteria are established for average voltage and current values, ensuring accurate performance.

  1. Voltage/Current Presence Check Update

  2. Voltage and Current Presence Check • Effective Nov.1, 2003 V&I presence check is not being performed in MV90 • Exemption granted to turn off V&I checking until March 2004 • 100’s of false MTR’s due to design limitations of algorithm • More reliable and robust V&I checking being developed

  3. Voltage and Current Presence Check • Perform the voltage and current presence checks only for compliant meters • Perform the voltage and current presence checks in MVStar • Perform the voltage and current presence check over a clocked hour interval • Calculate the average value for UOM code 7 (V2H) • Calculate the average value for UOM code 10 (I2H) • Pass validation if average value is less than 17425 (132 V) and greater than 10000 (100V) and pass validation if average value equals zero. • Pass validation if average value is less than 56.25 (7.5 A). • Pass validation for each channel if the percent difference is less than 5% and greater than -5% of the calculated average value of code 7. • Pass validation for each channel if the percent difference is less than 50% and greater than -50% of the calculated average value of code 10. • Fail validation if UOM code 10 is greater than zero and UOM code 7 equals zero
