  2. RTR Phase 1Auto Restoration School • Auto body repair schools could be a stepping stone to a lucrative career, particularly if a student has the talent for prize-winning car restoration projects and further develops this knack through further schooling.  After proper training, a certification can be obtained from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).  Four ASE exams are conducted two times every year, any of which a person can take to become a certified professional body repair technician.  After passing the test, ASE exams have to be taken every five years to maintain certification.

  3. Our Goal • RTR, Rolling Thunder Racing (Racers Edge) will be the 1st of its kind to train prison released inmates from the State and Federal Prison Systems. We will admit students that have been sent to the halfway house for their transition to society. In entering in our school the students will have the ability to achieve the ASE Certification for Auto Body Repair thus giving them a great chance to succeed in their new life.

  4. At our auto body repair school, the students will have to read diagrams and follow directions.  They will be taught how to make accurate measurements and install car body parts complementary to each other.  Hence, basic skills in reading and mathematics, as well as some computer knowledge, would be essential in studying in auto body repair school. • The students should also be particularly handy with tools as they will be taught how to take down damaged car parts.  The students will learn how to reinstall the materials to replace the damaged parts, as well as repair and/or install the window glass, windshields and other glass parts of a car.  They will need to develop the correct methods of fixing dents, sanding and any realigning needed to restore a car’s body to its original condition.

  5.    Prospective employers of those who finished auto body repair courses include garages or shops specializing in car repair and maintenance.  Auto dealerships are other possible employers.  With these employers, an auto body repair technician can earn anywhere between $11 and $20 an hour.  Further skills development is another benefit that could be derived from employment. •   Most employers often allow their workers to take supplementary training programs offered by car manufacturers.  These programs occasionally become available because of the continuing advancements in car technology.  The automobile manufacturers likewise often send instructors to auto body repair schools to help update students on current car technology which makes learning in the field a continuing process.

  6. Graduate Opportunities • Earnings • Median hourly wages of automotive body and related repairers, including incentive pay, were $17.81 in May 2012. The middle 50 percent earned between $13.74 and $23.57 an hour. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $10.75, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $30.17 an hour. Median hourly wages of automotive body and related repairers were $18.95 in automobile dealers and $17.40 in automotive repair and maintenance. • Median hourly wages of automotive glass installers and repairers, including incentive pay, were $15.44 in May 2012. The middle 50 percent earned between $12.40 and $18.88 an hour. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $9.71 and the highest 10 percent earned more than $23.39 an hour. Median hourly wages in automotive repair and maintenance shops, the industry employing most automotive glass installers and repairers, were $15.34.

  7. Graduate Opportunities • The majority of body repairers employed by independent repair shops and automotive dealers are paid on an incentive basis. Under this system, body repairers are paid a set amount for various tasks, and earnings depend on both the amount of work assigned and how fast it is completed. Employers frequently guarantee workers a minimum weekly salary. Body repairers who work for trucking companies, business, and other organizations that maintain their own vehicles usually receive an hourly wage. • Helpers and trainees typically earn between 30 percent and 60 percent of the earnings of skilled workers. They are paid by the hour until they are skilled enough to be paid on an incentive basis.

  8. Course Length • The RTR course will take 3-6 months for completion. When the RTR instructor feels the student is ready for the ASE Certification Test RTR will pay the $100 testing fee at the local Community Collage and the student will take his or her test. When they have passed the ASE Certification the student will then have the ability to seek higher paying employment in the work sector. During the training the students will be paid $10 per hour. RTR will receive from the government $8000 tax credit per student for the training course.
