  5. From SPSC92 summary to IEFC Committee on 9 July 2009: OtherExperiments (Cont’d) • NA62 • The SPSC is once more impressed by the amount of progress ’in real time’ • The RK measurement has been presented at KAON-09, based on 40% of the data, as promised • They have performed a successful test of the RICH400 prototype this year (st=60 ps) • Good progress on GTK, STRAWs and LAV • The SPSC notes the good progress with the R&D program and congratulates NA62 with the preliminary result on RK. • Now that NA60 has announced at the May workshop that they are investigating a new location, it seems appropriate to take a decision on the dismounting of the NA60 experiment and the H10 beam.EN/MEF is asked by the SPSC to submit a memo to the management (S.Bertolucci, S.Myers) requesting this decision. SPSC92 Summary for IEFC

  6. List of incompatibilies H10/NA60 – K12/NA62 • Need several magnets from H10 beam line (QNRB are not abailable elsewhere) • Would have to switch ~15 power supplies between H10 and K12 beam line or buy ad install extra power supplies (new buildin needed) • H10 beam line interferes with taking out anti rings for interventions • NA60 apparatus blocks material access to big NA62 detectors (RICH, “MAMUD”, …)

  7. Other relevant input • NA60 apparatus is old and needs to be consolidated in a significant manner • At the New Opportunities Workshop in May NA60 announced that they understand that ECN3 is no longer a realistic option and that they are studying options elsewhere e.g. in EHN1 • NA60 would compete for proton time if in ECN3 (also true if in the H8 beam, except if we would take protons from T6 (but then COMAPSS forced to run at -200 GeV/c)
