  3. MC vs. DOT • MC 306 Certified before August 31, 1995 and will have spec. plate • DOT 406 Certified on August 31, 1995 or later will have certification plate Cargo Tanks

  4. Specification Plate and Certification Plates Helps with the identification of tank type by providing specific information. Spec. Plates located on passenger side front of tank. Certification Plates located on drivers side front of tank. Cargo Tanks

Multipurpose Plates • Is in addition to spec. or certification plate • Is color coded along with fittings • MC-306/DOT-406=Red • MC-307/DOT407=Green • MC-312/DOT-412=Yellow • Non-specification cargo tank=Blue • Identifies the specification under which the cargo tank is operated • Common multipurpose configurations are: • MC-306/DOT-406 / MC-307/DOT-407 • MC-307/DOT-407/MC-312/DOT-412 (Nalco uses this) Cargo Tanks

  7. MC-306/DOT-406 • Most oval cross section • Non pressurized - less than 3 psi (406 -5 psig) • Usually single shell aluminum construction • Some older tanks may be constructed of steel Cargo Tanks
