Summative Assessment MCQ • 3 hours allowed • ‘Minimum acceptable competence’ • Pass rate 94% • Pass mark when I sat it was 66% • PEP CDs • Don’t forget your photo ID! • Can re-sit

Video • Single route unless you are finishing at a different time • Practise with the equipment • Start videoing early • Have a clock for the camera but also visible to you • Rewind awful ones without watching!
Video • Get receptionists on side • Be organised with consent forms • Allow a couple of evenings to fill in the workbook • Watch out for the temporary madness!

Working for the MRCGP • Resus training: ALS valid within the last 3 years acceptable • Oral exam needs practice • Watch timings in the written and MCQ papers, especially if MCQ answers need transferring
Important Dates • Download SA application form from NOSA website and send to Moira Linden by 1st August • SA MCQ 4/5/05, 7/9/05, 7/12/05 • Apply 1 month beforehand • Audit needs to be submitted 3 months before the end of training

Certification • Certificate from JCPTGP needed to do any work after the registrar year • www.jcptgp.org.uk • VTR2 forms • VTR1 • Covering letter with copy of current GMC certificate
Certification • VTR2 forms must be stamped • Stamp must match the name of hospital or trust written on the form • Dates must be correct with no overlap between posts or crossings out • Need to be endorsed by deanery
Certification • Send VTR2 forms in advance • If any posts not approved for training or any queries about amount of experience start communicating now • VTR1 needs to be signed by trainer then twice by deanery to endorse and prove SA passed
Certification • Once you have stopped working at a hospital it is difficult to get people to help you • There may be delays at the deanery to process your forms so allow 2 weeks • Joint Committee take “10 working days” if everything is perfect
Personal Development Plans • Have something to take to 3 month assessment • Keep DRC feedback forms • Keep certificates or proof of courses attended • Start keeping cards or any feedback
Personal Development Plans • Keep PUNS/ DENS and any assessments of learning needs • Your trainer should do some form of an educational plan with you
Courses • 48 days study leave • 30 taken up by DRC • 18 left for other courses • Dorothy House placement needs 4 days

Other Bits of Advice • Inclusion on Medical Performers List • Make sure you get your GMC certificate back! • Think about filling in a tax return (sorry) • Do some preparation for when you have to give your communication skills talk!
