  3. 4 years of English – 40 credits 3 years of Math – 30 credits Must include Algebra 1 3 years of Science – 30 credits 1 yr Life Sci 1 yr Physical Sci 1 year of Fine Art OR World Language – 10 credits DO NOT need both 2 years of PE – 20 credits 3.5 years of Social Science – 35 Credits 1 semester of Health – 5 credits 5.5 elective classes – 55 credits Total Credits = 225 **All students must pass CAHSEE in order to receive a diploma Paloma Valley Graduation Requirements

  5. AP Courses • College Level Courses • Weighted GPA: A=5, B=4, C=3 • Academic credit awarded for exams taken and passed with a score of at least 3/5. • Can mean exemption from college lower division courses.

  6. Trade/Vocational Schools A vocational school (or trade school or career school), providing vocational education, is a school in which students are taught the skills needed to perform a particular job. AKA “On the job training” Vocational Schools are now beginning to offer 2 and 4 year degrees. Check the school’s website for admission requirements and policies.

  7. Community College • Offer 2 year degrees & certificate programs • Admissions: • High School Diploma • GED • CA High School Proficiency Exam • No GPA or testing requirements • Earn: • Certificates • Associates Degree/2 year degree • Credits to transfer to a 4 year institution

  8. 4 Year University • Admissions: • A-G Requirements • Admissions for private universities check school’s website • Pass SAT I or ACT Plus Writing • Letter of Recommendation (Private Colleges) • Pathways to a 4 year university: • 2 yrs at Community College transfer to 4 yr university • High School 4 yr university

College Entrance Requirements A-G Requirements • A History/Social Science 2 years required • B English 4 years required • C Mathematics 3 years required (Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2) 4 years recommended • D Laboratory Science 2 years required 3 years recommended • E World Language 2 years required 3 years recommended • F Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) 1 year required • G College-Preparatory Electives 1 year required ALL classes must be completed with a C or better.
