  2. Sex and Gender • Sex is a biological category that refers to the feminine or masculine. Gender is a social and cultural concept and refers to the allocation of certain social tasks, aptitudes and values to woman or men. For example, women been in charge of the house and domestic labours, and men been in charge of bringing money home, the boss of the house, politics etc.. These aspects define what is considered feminine or masculine and social beliefs about what it means to be male or female in society.

  3. What society says... • Society have constructed some stereotypes, that define genders, have made of woman and men a figure identified by certain characteristics that had built us and shape us as we are now.

  4. Woman • Since early ages woman had been stereotyped as the weak gender. This happened for varied reasons, firstly because men, anatomically are dd bigger, taller and stronger. • Woman are seen as a low status gender, inferior less than men • This has brought as consequence the view of woman as a sexual object . • All this attitudes towards woman, have created violence and the woman been slave of a perfect stereotype of woman with total beauty, that doesn't even exist, and its only for the satisfaction of men.

  5. We are not serving anyone because our gender... • Being a woman includes acting in a certain way to be accepted by the society, and to be accepted by men, apparently in this society been the ideal woman is looking good, staying young and serving home.

  6. This idea have changed and improved throughout the years, in a beginning women didn't have rights, we can say women were only sexual objects of men, and slaves at home. But this dint stayed like this forever, women realised the difference was only physical and men weren't above them, they had been put under an ideal of men superiority, that certainly isn true.

  7. The myth of beauty • Our perception of beauty have been distorted by media, which presents a totally perfect and unachievable “beauty” • 59% of women think that “physically attractive women are more valued by men” • 60% of women believe the society expect the to become as “beautiful” as is possible

  8. We have been raised with the idea of beauty and youth • 80-90% of the women dislike their body • 77% of the girls think they are ugly • 50%think they're fat • Only 2%of women consider themselves beautiful

  9. Advertisement • Did you know the average person sees 400-600 ads per day? • 68% of the women think that media and advertising present an unattainable beauty standard • After viewing images of female fashion models, 7/10 women felt more depressed and angry with themselves than before viewing them

  10. The only thing advertisement tell us about women is that the most important is how we look • “getting older is getting uglier” • Women are getting the message of the need to be sexy and innocent at the time • sex is being used to sell • We are getting the wrong idea of sex in our society, teenager are being hyper sexualised

  11. Sex for women • what it means sex for woman? • whats the average age to begin our sexual life? • what consequences bring a child? • Is sex important in you social life?

  12. Perception of sex ilowerclass man • For lowerclass men the perception of sex is just an action in witch only plasure is involved and having children is just something that woul come by accident, all of this thinkings are because of a poor education of sex during their childhood. • For upperclass men the perception of sex is an action that takes place mostly because their is a stable relationship and love is involved, having a kid on a unfavorable time is a problem is a huge problem because their studies become a problem

  13. Man in society • Man in lower-class society is seen as person whose role in home is the one of bringing the money, if they don't bring money home it is like if their role in society isn't done, and they feel bad. • Upper class man sees it role as a role in witch bringing money into the house is important but also being a part ofn the childs life is important.

  14. Machism • Machism in our society is one of the reasons why sex roles take place in society. • The idea of machism create on the patternal figure an idea of thinking that they don't have to care for their childrens and caring of them would make them look as if they were making the mothers role.
