University Requirements • Students obtain 8 credits over a period of 2 years( G11 and 12). 1 credit is obtained by receiving a passing grade in a subject. • 3 credits from G11 and 5 from G12 • Students must receive a score of 1440 out of 2400 on SAT • Additional requirements for Faculties of Engineering in Egyptian universities: 1)1100/1600 for SAT II 2)Math (Required) and a choice of Physics, Chemistry or Biology • Additional requirements for Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacology in Egyptian universities: 1)1100/1600 for SAT II 2)Biology (Required) and a choice of Math, Physics or Chemistry • Universities will calculate entrance averages according to the following: 40% school awarded grades 60% SAT scores Additional 15% for SAT II where required

AUC Requirements • Entrance averages are calculated as following: a) 67% SAT scores b) 33% school awarded grades • SAT II is not required • Deadline for admission is beginning of March a) School awarded grades which are reflected in SAT scores b) High TOEFL test results • Official transcript must be sealed. • Minimum scores for regular admission-1440/2400 for SAT/ 2.00 GPA

  4. Transcript Information • Students are issued Transcripts after the 1st trimester and at the end of the year • Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 appear on Transcripts • Arabic, Arabic S. Studies and Religion will not appear on Transcripts • Subjects/grades for students who did not attend El Alsson will not appear on El Alsson Transcripts • Students that have transferred from other schools must request these records (original) from their previous schools.

  5. Official Documents • Documents to be submitted: 1)Original Transcript 2)Birth Certificate 3) Original SAT Score Reports 4)Primary 6, Edaddiya, Thanawiya Certificates 5)Tasalsol El Derasi 6) Letters of recommendation (optional) • All students are required to submit to universities ‘TasalsolDerasi’ from their schools. • El Alsson will provide students with this documentation according to the number of academic years they were enrolled at the school. • Students that have transferred from other schools must request this document from their previous schools. • Parents/students must request this document from the American Office and not the Registrar. The Am Off. will inform the Registrar

SAT Scores • Original SAT score reports must be submitted to universities • Students must pick up their original score reports from Amideast. • All SAT score reports must be stamped by Amideast. • Students must contact Collegeboard for extra score reports. • El Alsson School will not register students for the SAT • Math and English scores may be combined from different SATs

  7. Admission Procedures • Deadline for admission to universities is usually end of February/early March. Students to check. • State Universities follow Ministry regulations (Tanseek). • Conditional acceptance doesn’t guarantee place for students. • First trimester transcripts will be ready for students only by request in advance and not before end of January for all students. • Transcripts for admission will have Tri 1 grades (G12) • Transcripts will be ready one week from day of request. • Students/parents must check and sign that all personal information is accurate. (DOB/Address/Tel. No.) as well as grades received for G9/10/11/12 • Parents will receive a form to indicate errors and to correct them

  8. ….continued • Universities vary in calculating entrance averages. • Some universities accept 1000/1600 on SAT II. Students to check with universities. These requirements vary from one academic year to another. • Students intending to enter Fine Arts will most likely need to present a portfolio of their art work and complete an art entrance exam. • All universities with exception of AUC require NCA CASI and ECEB stamps. • Some universities require internal entrance exams. • All students applying to AUC/ abroad must register for Toefl • Students who have achieved above 500 on both English sections do not register for Toefl

Universities Abroad • Entrance requirements to universities abroad vary greatly • In general, application deadlines are much earlier than Egyptian universities. • Applications to universities abroad are dealt with on a case by case basis • It is the student’s responsibility to gather all admissions information and application forms • Parent conferences may be required

End of Year Stamping Procedures • Original Transcripts and Diplomas are sent to NCA CASI/ ECEB (Egyptian Cultural and Educational Bureau) for stamping in mid June • Minimum 1 Diploma and 2 Transcripts • Students are responsible for payment to each NCA CASI/ ECEB for stamping fees. • El Alsson will collect all fees from students and is responsible for sending Transcripts/ Diplomas to NCA CASI • Stamped documents return to Egypt end of July beginning of August • El Alsson will contact students to pick up documents • Students entering Universities other than AUC and abroad are required to pay 200LE per transcript to the MOE

  11. Students’ Responsibilities • Attend all university presentations that take place at El Alsson • Visit various university campuses • Visit websites of different universities. • Familiarize themselves with university requirements/ internal procedures… • Pay attention to announcements made with regards to graduation procedures. • Abide by deadlines
