  2. Aim • To raise awareness of the uses and benefits of ILPs. • To look at what an Individual learning Plan could contain. • To consider what needs to be in place for the introduction/implementation of ILPS in a learning establishment. • An update on the ILP Pilots in the City and County.

  3. National Context for ILPs • DCSF Requirements – Delivering 14-19 Reform: Next Steps • Integrated approach to the development of electronic Individual Learning Plans, (eILPs), 14-19 Area Prospectus (Routes Ahead) and Common Application Processes (CAP) • Local Authority Progress Checks

  4. Definition Individual learning planning helps learners to plan present and future learning, personal development and progression. The process integrates; • Subject target setting and reviewing achievement, • career and progression planning, • recording of all personal achievements in school, leisure, at home and in the community.

  5. The Purpose of ILPs Individual learning planning will • Record progress during key stage 3. • Help inform specific choices about the subjects/learning programme students will study during Key stage 3 and 4. • Establish proud learning and career goals for the whole 14-19 phase, including wider development activities that the young person might participate in.

  6. The Purpose of ILPs Individual learning planning will • Provide the basis for ongoing monitoring and review of process during the 14-19 phase. From 14-19 Opportunity and Excellence

Implementation Introducing ILPs into Learning Centres • Have a clear definition of individual learning planning • Have a named individual with clear responsibilities for management and co-ordination • Set out clear policies shared with all staff • Build on existing key opportunities for student planning and review • Integrate individual learning planning with careers education and guidance programmes

Implementation Introducing ILPs into Learning Centres • Commence individual learning planning from Year seven – Consider the curriculum • Ensure systems are in place to support young peoples action planning • Ensure appropriate administration and IT support • Consider time for Staff training and development and introducing ILPs to students. • The impact of changing practice, moving from a paper system to electronic. • Evaluation

Update on ILP Pilot - City: PebblePAD is an eportfolio system that allows you to upload digital items of work, or create ‘assets’ and share them with others. • Da Vinci - Tutor Group Year 9 • Bemrose – 3 Vertical Tutor Groups 7 -11 • Derby Moor- Year 10 Other Schools who have expressed an interest: Murray Park, Woodlands and Leesbrook

  10. Update on ILP Pilot - County: • Evaluation of eILP products completed • Integration with Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) • Pilot areas TBC

  11. What next? • Pilot Schools to be identified and to sign up for County project. • Ongoing support for schools in the City and County involved in the Pilot • Progress reporting of implementation of ILP and sharing good practice to IAG groups, CEG Network Meetings, Cnx Team Meetings • Evaluation of Pilots • Introduce eILPs for use in Derbyshire and Derby Schools for all students in 2010/11
