  2. PURPOSES & GOALS OF THE INTERNSHIP • To identify & test longevity of a person’s passions & career interests. • To test your ability to acclimate to a professional work environment.

How do I find an internship? • Personal contacts • Local and county agencies (county probation, district attorney, etc.) • State agencies-(Attorney General, etc.) www.cor.state.pa.us, www.pccd.state.pa.us, etc. • Federal agencies-(U.S. Marshal’s Service, FBI [Honors Program] and DEA, ATF, Postal Inspectors, etc.); www.nsa.org, www.fbi.gov and www.doj.gov. • Faculty, Department & EUP Internship Listings • http://departments.edinboro.edu/careerservices/internships.html

  4. Ask to speak to someone who coordinates internships. In the alternative, ask to speak to a supervisor, dept. head, Chief, etc. Explain the concept of an internship. Non-paid Job experience Exposure to department or agency operation & personnel. WHO DO I CONTACT?

  5. CRIMINAL HISTORY • Prior criminal involvement • (E.g. juvenile, summary offense violations, etc.) • Nature of disposition, grading of offense, etc. • If necessary, seek advice from an attorney about the Expungement Process

  6. EMPLOYMENT & PERSONAL HISTORY • References • Employment • Personal • Academic • Financial • Anyone who can attest to your overall development in one or more areas, including character

  7. TIMING • Begin your inquiry or internship search no later than mid-point of the 2nd semester of your third year (60 credit minimum). • Earlier preparation may be necessary based on internship program’s background check requirements.

Check S.C.O.T.S.
