  2. The 19th Amendment The 19th Amendment says “The right of citizens to vote shall not be denied or abridged… on account of sex” This amendment allowed women the right to vote This amendment was enacted in 1920 after large movements for suffrage.

  3. The 20th Amendment This amendment allows for the terms of office to begin in January to negate the lame duck period, and it also creates a simplistic line of succession, but only through to the vice president. This amendment was enacted in 1933 after Franklin Roosevelt noted that it took too long for him to be able to face the Great Depression

  4. The 21st Amendment The 21st Amendment repeals the 18th amendment that put a ban on Alcoholic beverages. This amendment was also enacted in 1933 after country-wide outcry for the repeal of prohibition.

  5. The 22nd Amendment The 22nd Amendment allows so that presidents can only server for two full terms This was spurred by republicans mad at the fact that FDR was elected to four terms. Enacted in 1947 but not ratified until 1951

  6. The 23rd Amendment The 23rd Amendment allows for Washington D.C. to vote in the presidential elections. Enacted in 1961 after outcry from citizens in D.C who could not vote in presidential elections
