Canada-EUMETSAT Cooperation Agreement • Objectives • establish regular forum for communication • familiarization • formalize and encourage new relationships • consideration of a long-term arrangement • Government of Canada • Environment Canada, Canadian Space Agency, Fisheries and Oceans • Status • EUMETSAT Council Approval – July 2007 - ‘non-controversial’ • Kick-off Meeting – Montreal, October 17-18 APSDEU-8

Canada-EUMETSAT Cooperation Agreement • 8 areas of cooperation • science and product development • optimize data acquisition and exchange of satellite data and products • define requirements and opportunities to improve high-latitude observations • explore options for Canada to contribute to EUMETSAT mission instruments • share training experience and materials • cooperation in GEO, including projects in developing countries • exchange views on matters of satellites and satellite meteorology • explore possibilities for longer term cooperation APSDEU-8
