What is a Portable Application A portable application is a software application that does not require any formal installation onto a computers permanent storage device to be executed.It can be stored on a removable storage device(ex:USB Flash drive) and used on multiple computers. Don’t confuse it with software portabilty which is something different.

  3. What is Filezilla Portable • FileZilla Portable is the popular FileZilla FTP client packaged as a portable app, so you can take your server list and settings with you. You can place it on your USB flash drive, iPod, portable hard drive or on a CD and use it on any computer, without leaving any personal information behind

  4. Features • FileZilla is a fast and reliable FTP client with lots of handy features. It supports resume on both downloads and uploads, timeout detection, firewall support, SOCKS4/5 and HTTP1.1 support, SSL, SFTP and more, all with an intuitive drag and drop interface

  5. Features(cont…) • It has all the features of filezilla such as • Site Manager - The Site Manager manages a list of servers so that you can quickly connect to them. It stores their addresses and their logon information so that you don't have to remember all server details. It does it for you.

  7. Installing Filezilla • To install FileZilla Portable, just download the portable package at sourcForge.net Select the location you wish to install to and click OK. A FileZillaPortable directory will be created there and all the necessary files installed. That's all there is to it.

  8. Using filezilla • To start up FileZilla Portable, just double-click FileZillaPortable.exe file where you installed Portable FileZilla on your portable drive. Then, use it just like you would a local copy of FileZilla. • When you have established a connection between your computer and an FTP site, the FileZilla main window displays the files and folders for your PC on the left side of the main window and the files and folders of the FTP site on the right side.

  9. Using Filezilla(cont…) • At the top of the window there is a menu and a toolbar. From there you can access other functions of FileZilla and you can change the layout of the main window. Below that, there is the message log. Every action you take on the FTP server is logged there, as well as all status messages. Located at the bottom of the window is the Transfer Queue, which allows you to see what files are scheduled for upload/download and their progress.
