Portable Software This program will explain what portable software is, how it can be used, and where it can be found. This is an advanced level technology class that assumes you have experience using computers and the Internet.

Portable Software: What is it? • Portable software refers to software that can be used on different computers. • In the past, a software program could only be used on the computer it was installed on.

Where to find portable software • U3 Smart Drives: the good, the bad, and the not so bad • The base software acts as a launcher, with a convenient graphical interface for the other portable applications • It does not work on all computers • U3 Software can only be run from the U3 Software launcher (the base software) • Once removed, the U3 base software cannot be put back on the USB drive.

How to Install Portable Software • The process of installing portable software is similar to installing software on a computer.
