  2. What are r-controlled vowels? • R-controlled vowels are neither long nor short. • The letter “r” follows the vowel. • The “r” changes the sound of the vowel.

  5. ir • Ir makes the “ir” sound like in the word shirt.

  8. Which is which? • Identify the r-controlled vowel for each word.

  10. Now it’s your turn! • You will practice sorting words with r-controlled vowels. • Open the R-controlled vowel picture sort. • Move the pictures to the correct vowel by clicking on the picture, dragging it and dropping it under the correct vowel. • Have fun!
