  3. Our vision for the Eastern Shore (2050): • Our towns are vibrant and well defined; • Our farms, forests, and fisheries are thriving; and, • Our scenic, historic, and natural landscapes are protected.

  4. The Eastern Shore’s population grew by 53% from 1970 to 2000. The region’s population is projected to grow by 44% from 2002 through 2030. The region’s developed acreage is projected to grow by 137% from 2002 through 2030. That means 262,110 more developed acres and less farmed and natural acres. Development on the Eastern Shore

  10. Purpose: establish a shared vision for the future land use in the Eastern Shore. In a nutshell… Eastern Shore 2010is an intercounty agreement to set regional land use goals for the Eastern Shore. Eastern Shore 2010: A Regional Vision Endorsed September 2002 by six counties!

  11. Eastern Shore 2010:Goals • Protect from development 50% of land • Encouraging Resource-based Economic Development • Curbing Sprawl (direct at least 50% into growth areas) • Improving Regional Transportation Choices
