Why UPK? • Oracle product recognising content from a number of enterprise applications. • Single authoring system for all content development. • Interactive, offering a number of learning options (See It Try It, Know It, Do It, Print It). • Can be used to generate self helptraining materials, system process documents, test scripts, manuals and quick reference guides. • In application support available allowing for the context sensitive launching of UPK content.

  3. UPK: How we will use it. • Classroom training for key Finance System modules. • Project road shows and demos • Development of self-service interactive training materials • Development of downloadable training materials e.g. quick reference guides, process documentation. • On-line video guides

  5. Recording Method The recording method is selected in the developer preferences

  6. Manual vs Automatic Recording • Manually: The record button appears at the top of the screen with instructions to assist you during the recording process. • Automatically: Press <PrintScreen> to start and end recording. No further instructions required.

  11. Preview a topic Topics can be previewed in any of the learning modes prior to publishing them.

  12. Learning Modes • See It! Mode: User learns by watching an animated demonstration of the task. • Try It! Mode: User learns interactively in a simulated environment. • Know It! Mode: Users complete the task without instructions. • Do It! Mode: User learns interactively using live data. A small window on top of the live application gives instructions.

  13. Publishing Content UPK content can be published to several different output types including: • Browser based and Learning Management System (Knowledge Centre) player • Static HTML Website • Stand alone topic files • In-application support via an integrated help link

Knowledge Centre • The Knowledge Centre is a centralised content deployment, tracking and reporting platform. • Items are grouped together and organised into Knowledge Paths. • Knowledge Paths can be tailored to particular user roles and responsibilities. • Users can self enrol or withdraw from the Knowledge Paths that are available to them.

Where to from here? • UPK offers a great opportunity for QUT to develop a complete suite of on-line training and support materials across a range of University systems and applications. • QUT’s Learning and Development Department fully supports and encourages the use of on-line learning as a means of engaging and training users across the University. • UPK is also an important element in change management by providing easily accessible policy, process and procedural documentation to all stakeholders.
