  3. Course Selection Dates for Rising Seniors • Begins on January 10th • Ends on January 25th • Be on time for your appointment. • Be prepared with a completed form. • Please notify your counselor if you are unable to make your appointment time.

  6. Curriculum Guide • A copy of the 2019-20 Curriculum Guide can be viewed and downloaded from the RB website.

  7. Senior Year Classes • 1.0 Credit in English • .50 Credit in Government • 1.0 Credit in PE or 1.0 in Marching Band and .50 credit in PE • Pay close attention to graduation requirements like Consumer Economics, Fine Arts Survey & Global Area Studies. • Be sure to list alternative classes, especially P.E.

Fulfilling Grad Requirements • The Global Studies A or B graduation requirement may also be fulfilled by taking: • Sociology • AP World History • Level 4 or Advanced Placement Language class at RBHS (French IV, AP French, Spanish IV, AP Spanish Language, AP Spanish Literature, or AP German) • All students must take the Fine Arts Survey course, unless they fulfill the following requirements: • Annually take at least a ½ unit within one area of concentration in the Fine Arts over their four years (music, visual arts, or dance/drama). OR • A ½ unit of a performing art and an additional ½ unit of a visual art. See page 66 for eligible courses. • A Fine Art Survey Proficiency Exam is offered twice a year.

Taking a Rigorous Schedule • Senior year is a very important year academically. • Colleges will use your 6th semester transcript and possibly 7th semester for admission consideration but will also review your senior year courses as part of their decision-making. • Consider your post-secondary plans • 4-year college • 2-year college • Trade school • Military • Work

  15. Summer School Opportunities • Summer School information will be posted on the RB website by mid-April. • Any failed courses from previous years should be made-up in summer school. • Government is typically offered in the summer for rising seniors.

  16. Course Request Changes • Take selecting course for next school year seriously. Courses are offered based on students’ requests. • “Change of mind” course changes will not be honored after January 31st. If you decide to drop a course after January, a study hall will be added • Teachers may make level change recommendations after January.

Course Verification Letters • Course verification letters will be mailed home to families in March. • Students/parents will be given approximately 5 days to review their course selections. • Verification letters are mailed only to ensure course selection accuracy. We are not able to honor “change of mind” course changes. • Students should see their counselor if there is an error on the course verification letter.
