  1.   HandyInterviewQuestions      Areyousufferingwithawaitstaffthatlacksaguest-centeredattitude? Basicmanners?Evenethics?Ouch!Buildingthecultureyouwant startsrightnow.Wellnotexactlynow,butwithyournextinterviewfor FOHcandidates. Itstartswhentheywalkinthedoorandhandyoutheirresume.Youlookitoverandthenwhat? THENWHAT??Thenextwordsoutofyourmouthshouldbedesignedtoidentifythetypeof personsittingacrossfromyou.Theysay"Whatyouseekisseekingyou."Theinterviewiswhere youweedouttheriff-raff. Firstgiveyourcandidateachancetorelax.Beforeyoustart,mentionsomethingotherthanwork foraquicksecond(thebiggame,theweather,theawesomeStevieWondersongthatjustcame on)sotheycanachievecalmandopenup.Thenproceedtoaskthemany/some/allofthefollowing questions: 1.Tellmeaboutyourself. Lookforeyecontact,smile&communicationskill.Basically,aservice-orientedpersonality. 2.Whatdoescustomerservicemeantoyou? Iftheydon'tunderstandwhatyou'reasking,theymightnotbewhoyou'relookingfor. 3.Tellmeaboutatimeyouwereoverwhelmedandhowyouhandledit. It'sidealiftheytalkaboutaskingforhelp,workingasateam,creatingsolutions,etc. 4.Haveyouevergoneaboveandbeyondthecallofduty?Ifso,how? Hopefullytheycangiveyouanexample.Iftheydon'tknowwhatyoumean,they'renevergoingtoperformthewayyou want. 5.Whatwouldyoudoifyouworkedwithsomeoneyoudidn'tgetalongwith? Goodcandidateswillhaveaquickanswer,asolutionforachievingteamwork. 6.Tellmeaboutatimeyouhadadifficultcustomer.Whatdidyoudo? Hopefullysomethingyou'dencourageallyouremployeestodo. 7.Doyouconsideryourselftobeanhonestperson? They'llprobablysayyes.Askforaspecificexampleofwhentheyexhibitedtheirhonesty.Iftheycan'tcomeupwitha goodone,youmaynothavegottenanhonestresponse. 2. 8.Haveyoueverdealtwithapolicyyoudidn'tagreewith?Whatdidyoudo? Willtheydiginandfightyou?Oraretheymorelikelytoadapttohouserules? 9.Wasthereatimeyoubroketherulesforacustomer? There'snorightanswer,justlookforhowtheyhandlethemselvescomingupwitharesponsetothisone. 10.What'sthefunniestthingthat'severhappenedtoyou? Youknowyouwantpeoplewhodon'ttakethemselvestooseriously,solookforthegleamintheireyethatshowsthey haveasenseofhumor. Wanttokeepitrolling?Getmoreusefulcontenttobeast-modeyourwaitstaff! Whatelsecanwehelpyouwith?WhatareyoustrugglingwithinregardstoyourFOHstaff?Our missionistohelpandwealwayslovetohearfromYOU!
