Engage students in reading comprehension and characterization by analyzing character traits in the class novel. Firewing To work on reading comprehension and characterization, we will read from the class novel for 10 minutes.
As we do this, we will discuss key events and how the character’s traits lead to some of the outcomes. After reading, we will work in pairs on a characterization activity. In this activity, you will have to choose five character traits from a chart. These character traits must describe the main character of the novel. After you choose your qualities, you must write at least three sentences to explain why you chose that quality. You must refer to the events in the novel as you do this. **This activity will allow you to practice identifying the importance of character traits, as well as improving reading comprehension in general.
