    1. Reducing the Risk and Cost of Contact Lens Drop-Outs

    2. The Facts The #1 reason patients drop out of wearing CLs is due to dryness The average OD practice sees 80 contact lens fit patients per month or 960 per year 240 patients per year are “New Patient” contact lens fits 720 are “Existing Patient” contact lens fits Of the 720, 70% or (504) patients will be upgraded into a SiH lens while the others will remain in their current lenses SiH contact lens patients can generate on average $305 per year (Brujic - Review of Cornea & Contact Lenses Jan/Feb 2008) Of the 504 patients who are switched into a SiH lens, 60% of them are using a multi-purpose solution that is not designed for SiH lenses. Only 30 % are told to switch to a contact lens solution made specifically for SiH lenses 302 patients per year in the average practice are at risk of dropping out of their lenses (302 x $305 = $92,110) Risk could be significantly reduced by prescribing all patients that are placed into SiH lenses OPTI-FREE RepleniSH® since OPTI-FREE RepleniSH® is the only solution that is specifically designed for all lens materials including Silicon Hydrogel because of it’s unique preservative and wetting agent

    3. The Facts Patients wearing conventional contact lenses generate on average per year $260 ($90 comprehensive eye exam, $51 contact lens evaluation, $119 lens materials – Key Metrics of Optometric Practice, 2007 – Ciba/Essilor MBA Program) Of the 216 patients that are not switched to a SiH lens, 60% are using Renu, Complete, Clear-Care or Generic Multi-Purpose Solutions 90% of these patients are allowed to continue using their current, older technology multi-purpose solution 117 patients (117 x $260 = $30,420) per year are at risk of dropping out of their contact lenses if not given a chance to trial OPTI-FREE RepleniSH® with its unique preservative and wetting agent 83% of patients using other MPS products that are switched to OPTI-FREE RepleniSH® are more satisfied in regard to dryness and comfort
