SR-528 (Beach Line)/ SR-3 (Courtenay Blvd) Emergency Bridge Repair. January 21, 2011. A traffic accident between a pickup and an 8,200 gallon gasoline tanker left two fatalities and the bridge beyond repair. Friday, JANUARY 21, 2011 . 3:30 PM accident occurred.

A detour was set up to send Beachline traffic across the closed SR-3. To increase capacity the ramps were widened with temporary pavement.
Mobilization and Demolition begins

Removal of Debris and slope pavement
Connection to existing footer
Removal of fuel contaminated soil
Pre tied cap steel
Columns and Caps poured monolithically
Final steel adjustment and prep for pour
Concrete pour for piers
Clean up of existing structure
Bearing pads and slope pavement
Beams set and columns stripped
Forming diaphragms and installing safety lines
Overhangs and deck forms being placed Barrier wall footing placement.
Stay in place forms and reinforcing steel being placed.
Continuing deck reinforcement Bidwell setup and steel adjustments
Reinforcing steel in place, Bidwell dry runs and clearance checks.
Eastbound complete 3:30 Westbound starting
Start deck pour 9:00 AM
Completion 6:30 PM, flying out the Bidwell
Removing edge forms and tying barrier wall steel
Decks in place and curing
