Homework • Read Sir Thomas Hoby’s translation of Castiglione’s The Courtier 645-61; Sir Thomas Wyatt (592-94): “The long love” and Petrarch’s Rima 140 (594-95), “Whoso list” and Petrarch’s Rima 190 (595), “Farewell, Love” (596), “I find no peace” and Petrarch’s Rima 134; H. Henry, Earl of Surrey (607): “Love, that doth reign” (609). • As you read, consider the questions to think about (posted online) that will guide our coverage of the texts in class.
