  3. Oregon AMS Reminders & Updates* May meeting will be Monday, May 23rd 7pm in Portland. Speakers to include Oregon AMS Secretary Kyle Dittmer and Meteorologist Drew Jackson. Kyle will discuss his recent trip to the German Climate Center and Drew will give a presentation on the AMS seal program for media members.* Pacific Northwest Weather Workshop is taking place in Seattle on May 13-14th. If you would like to go, please register at www.atmos.washington.edu/pnww* June AMS picnic is tentatively set for Saturday, June 25th in Portland. AMS executive council is planning the event right now with more details to come!

  8. What is going on with this crazy spring weather??? Records are falling all over the place! KPDX --- Several daily record low temperatures challenged for the month of April. Several daily rainfall records have been set already in April. KHIO --- Several daily record low temperatures challenged or new records set, for the month of April. 7 of 20 days in April have been at or below 32 degrees! Burrrr!

  9. KAST --- Average date to reach "first 60 degree high" of the year is February 20th. Record latest date to reach "first 60 degree high of the year" was April 19th 1945. Update --- April 21st and counting! Still NO 60 degree high! Records date back to 1890 at Astoria! KGEG --- Nearing the all-time latest to hit 60 degrees for the first time of the year. Latest to see first 60 is April 22, set in 1917. Records date back 130 yrs in Spokane! They are -4.3 below normal month to date. Mean temp of just 41.3 degrees through 4/20!

  10. KSEA --- At a mean temp of just 50.1 degrees, it is the coldest first half of April (1st-15th) on record at SEA-TAC airport. Old record was 50.9 set in April 1953! Also, seriously challenging older data taken at the Seattle Federal Building that goes back to 1891. Those records include the all-time coldest April mean of 49.1 in 1929 and 49.3 in 1920. Portland is -3.3 degrees below average (through 4/20). That is the 4th coldest April on record at airport (1940-2011). YEAR TEMP 1955 46.5 1964 46.7 1967 46.9 2011 47.1 1975 47.3
